Since its announcement a few months back – the Shawshank 25th Anniversary event has been of great interest to me – being a huge fan of Stephen King, the film and the director Frank Darabont, Darabont, of course, is a staple in the horror genre having directed another King adaptation – The Mist – and also being one of the original driving forces behind the wildly popular TV show The Walking Dead.

Darabont, of course, adapted King’s story and directed The Shawshank Redemption – and to be able to hang out with him, in the exact locations that the iconic film was shot – it’s goosebump-inducing.

The folks at The Shawshank Trail – the driving force behind this 25th- anniversary celebration – made the announcement this week that Darabont would be in attendance for the weekend-long festivities.

Ben Mankiewicz – from Turner Classic Movies will MC the events – you can CLICK HERE to see the list of other stars from the film that will be on hand.

This is honestly shaping up to be one of the coolest fan events ever. It takes place Aug. 16th – 18th at the Ohio Reformatory in Mansfield Ohio.
